Membership
Professional Membership
CRT Professional Membership is for individual commodity trading professionals who want access to CRT's certification programmes, digital credentials, trade platform and intelligence services. Founding-stage applications are now being invited.
Who Professional Membership is for
Professional Membership is designed for individual practitioners whose professional activities include: trading physical commodities; brokering commodity transactions; representing buyers or sellers of physical commodities; compliance, risk or legal functions directly supporting commodity trading; or trade finance functions specifically related to commodity transactions.
It is not required that your primary occupation is commodity trading. Professionals who work in adjacent functions — trade finance, shipping, inspection, or legal services for commodity traders — are also eligible, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria.
What Professional Membership includes
- Access to the Foundation Certificate programme when available for enrolment
- Eligibility to apply for the Trade Integrity Passport on obtaining certification
- Access to the CRT intelligence library (when live)
- Access to the CRT trade platform (when live and upon completion of onboarding)
- CPD recording and tracking through the CRT member portal
- Voting rights in CRT consultations and governance processes (once established)
- Use of the CRT member designation (wording to be confirmed)
Eligibility
Full eligibility criteria are described on the Eligibility page. In summary, Professional Membership requires that the applicant:
- Is an individual (not an organisation)
- Has relevant professional experience in or adjacent to international commodity trade
- Agrees to be bound by the CRT Code of Professional Conduct
- Provides accurate and complete information in the application
- Has no conduct or criminal history that would be inconsistent with the Code of Conduct
There is no minimum number of years' experience required for founding-stage membership. CRT recognises that the profession includes people at different stages of their careers.
