Stakeholders
Funding Partners
CRT is currently founder-funded. External funding, on terms consistent with the initiative's independence principles, would accelerate the development programme. This page describes what CRT is looking for and how funding independence is protected. No external funders have been confirmed at this stage.
Current position
Currently founder-funded — no external partners
CRT has not received any external investment, grants or commercial funding. All development costs are currently borne by the founder. This page describes what kind of funding engagement CRT is open to.

What CRT is seeking
CRT is potentially interested in engaging with funders who:
- Have a genuine alignment with the mission of raising professional standards in commodity trade
- Are prepared to fund on terms that preserve CRT's independence — no strings attached to standards-setting, certification decisions or governance
- Are themselves eligible to participate in CRT's ecosystem (as members, users or institutional stakeholders) without the funding relationship creating conflicts of interest that cannot be appropriately managed
- Can accept public disclosure of the funding relationship, consistent with CRT's transparency commitments
CRT is particularly interested in engagement from: trade industry bodies and associations; charitable foundations with an interest in trade integrity or financial crime prevention; and grant-making bodies supporting professional standards development in global trade.
Funding conditions and independence
Any external funding arrangement will be subject to the following non-negotiable conditions:
- The funder will not have influence over CRT's standards-setting, certification or conduct decisions
- The funding relationship will be publicly disclosed
- Any conditions attached to the funding will be publicly disclosed
- The funder will not be granted preferential treatment in CRT's membership or services beyond what is available to all members of the same category
- Revenue concentration limits will apply (no single funder exceeding the defined threshold of total income)
Full details of the proposed funding governance are on the Funding page.
