Trade Risk Diagnostic

The Trade Risk Diagnostic is a proposed broader assessment of the risk profile of a member's trading activities — examining counterparties, corridors, documentation practices and payment structures across multiple transactions to identify systemic risk patterns.

Proposed Updated June 2026

Who it is for

The Trade Risk Diagnostic is designed for experienced traders and trading businesses who want a systematic view of the risk profile of their existing or planned trading activities — not a single transaction, but a broader portfolio or programme.

It may also be relevant for trade finance banks or insurers assessing the risk profile of a borrower's or insured's trading book, subject to appropriate consent from the member.

The problem it addresses

Individual transaction assessments identify specific risks. But patterns of risk — systematic reliance on unverified counterparties, concentration in high-risk corridors, documentation practices that create recurring vulnerabilities — are only visible at a portfolio level. The Trade Risk Diagnostic addresses this gap.
