Why this initiative was started
The CRT Initiative was started by someone who has operated within international commodity trade and observed at first hand the trust failures, competence gaps, and counterparty risks that the initiative is designed to address. The decision to establish CRT was informed by repeated direct experience of situations where the absence of independent professional standards and verifiable credentials created unnecessary risk for legitimate participants.
The founder's motivation is not academic. It is grounded in the practical conviction that a well-governed, independently operated professional body — if built correctly — can materially reduce friction, fraud and risk in this sector.

Role in the initiative
The founder currently serves as the sole initiator and driving force of the CRT Initiative. They are responsible for the Founding Proposal, the conceptual framework, and the current development work. This is a founding-stage project; formal governance, including any board or advisory committee, is in development.
As the initiative matures, the founder's role will evolve. The proposed governance structure — described in the Governance section — anticipates an independent board and standards committees that will operate at arm's length from the founder.
